Before you book.

We can't wait to welcome you as a guest at 8 The Lake, and we will do everything we can to make your holiday here in the Lake District as enjoyable as possible. Our heart and soul has gone into renovating the apartment and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. All that being said, we want to ensure we exceed your expectations.  The building is over 150 years old, and was originally converted in the 70s and with that comes the occasional challenge so please read the below before you book.

2nd Floor

We are on the 2nd floor of a Victorian Mansion, there is not a lift and there are quite a few stairs; please only book if you can manage stairs easily and be mindful that you will also need to take your luggage up too!

Shared areas

We are very fortunate to have the benefit of stunning gardens and lake access, but we share this with other owners and holiday makers at the mansion. Therefore you are welcome to enjoy the the seating and garden areas at the front of the mansion (unfortunately not the seating or woodland areas at the rear or side) , and please follow the Lake District guidance of "leave no trace".

Communal Access

You will get a key box code to access the Mansion and the Apartment, the security of you and those that live at the mansion are of the highest priority so you must ensure doors are locked behind you, even if just to pop to the Lake. Also, if you are intending on being noisy after 10pm or before 7am this is not the place for you. Please note; Some of the internal communal areas, such as hallway, are a little tired, and we are working as a group of owners to bring that up to spec very soon.

The Lake

The whole reason we bought the apartment was for lake access and we suspect it is why you want to book! That being said, we take no responsibility or liability for your lake usage whatsoever. All lake access and usage is entirely at your own risk. We do not provide equipment to use at the Lake. We can advise of local hire companies if you so wish.

Parking

We will give you guidance on this when you book, but no parking is allowed immediately around the mansion, you have to park in the designated parking bays, they are all lit at night but it is not super bright so do take extra care. Sadly, we do not have electric vehicle charging at this time, we are looking in to how that would be a possibility in the future. The closest charge is at the Swan at Newby Bridge or in Ulverston.

Amenities

The kitchen is small but perfectly formed; oven, dishwasher, washing machine, hob, extractor are all new and there for your comfort - but be aware - there is not really much space to dry a full load of washing - wet items for the lake will be fine of course.  The fridge has a small freezer box integrated for ice and ice creams - it isn't big enough for much else! The large picture window is single glazed; it looks amazing but please please don't lean on it. We have pretty good water pressure. The Wifi is excellent and the Smart TV is ready for you to connect any streaming service you wish with your own log in.
